America in 2050
56 out of 56 of our founding fathers were white. What does that say about our country? Clearly it says that America was made to be a white nation, and for a while, it was. Starting from the 1800’s, people were immigrating in masses to try to achieve the freedom they dreamt of. Now, in the year of 2011, those same immigrants have begun to transform our so-called white nation.
According to CNN census figures, minorities currently constitute about a third of the U.S. population. But by 2042, they are projected to become the majority, making up more than half the population. And by 2050, 54 percent of the population will be minorities. Non-Hispanic whites will become a minority in the United States by 2050, with immigrants and their children driving 82 percent of U.S. population growth in coming years. For a countless number of years, white Americans have been governing the United States, so what happens now? Will the minority of today be in the white house tomorrow?
For the past few years, many whites have started to panic because of this very question, but the truth is, they have nothing to worry about. The key here to pay attention to is that non-Hispanic whites are going to become a minority. It’s extremely unlikely that in the future, Hispanics will only marry Hispanics and whites will only marry whites. Today, the term white or Caucasian refers to anyone of European descent, and forty years from now, the term white will refer to light-skinned people with a Hispanic heritage. In 2050, white people will not only remain a majority, but they’ll also maintain their unbalanced cultural, political and economic influence. All in all, people are freaking about nothing. Even though some would like to see it happen, the white privilege is not going to disappear.
