When Capitalism Goes Wrong
“A way of life is the combination of patterns of thought and action that, as it becomes habitual and institutionalized, defines the thrust and character of a culture and society” (Beyond pg.81) Everyone has a way of life based off of where they came from, how they were brought up, economically brought up, etc. “I don’t wanna go to work”, “I don’t wanna eat steak today”, or how about “I don’t drink tab water” have you ever said or thought something like this before? These simple thoughts and actions are what most people take for granted. Most people grow up with these narrow minded perspectives and tend to either look away or don’t/can’t acknowledge what the way of life is for someone who lives in poverty.   In this essay I will discuss how poverty in Japan is increasing due to hiding facts, outsourcing cheap labor are some of the causes to Japans poverty and who it affected.
Japan is a country like many others whose economic background is based off a eurocentrism perspective of capitalism. In a capitalism world everything is based off what is considered to be valued in the market place.   The public have the role to work and make the goods, sell the goods, then the owners received the profit made and the workers get paid. Which theoretically speaking, sounds like an ideal way of for the worker and the owner. Now what happens when the owners start to feel that profit isn’t enough? Well many countries including Japan are not outsourcing jobs in countries who will work for cheap which then leads to Japanese people out of jobs. Now since this has happened, people would assume that their government would step in and try to help the situation. However, in Japan the government seemed to be ignoring the fact that poverty was going on until recently in 2007 “Now that the administration has announced its base figure for the first time, it will have a clear, public benchmark.” So now the people are making it forcing the government to take some...
