Well over 90% of all students in this country have a cellular phone. Many have one or more. And yet teachers and students think it’s bad to have them inside a classroom. First, it’s a good thing to have because it keeps you communicating with your peers. Second, it’s there for safety precautions. Finally, calling home in case you forget something; not having to waste money on a pay phone in which you have to go outside of school.
First and foremost, having a cell phone helps you to communicate. Having a cell phone also helps you to keep a good relationship. A lot of people in this country have long distance relationship; a cell phone is their only way of communicating with each other. Also most families living in this country have other family members outside of the country. The only way they get to communicate is by using a phone.
In addition, safety comes first at any school. If there is an emergency; a cell phone could be the rescuer. A lot of students usually bring their cell phone to class which teachers and classmates don’t like. If something has happen at home, that is an emergency a cell phone is a useful way of letting the person know what happened. I remember when 9/11 took place my mom instantly called me. If I didn’t have a cell phone then in class, she would have worried about me. At that time I was living in New York with my dad. She was in Chicago when she heard about the terrible incident that happened. She was scared because she knew I was in school. I received her call which helped her not worry as much.
Finally, forgetting something at home, and not having to pay for a call which leads you to leave school. A cell phone save you the time instead of skipping a class to make pay phone calls. I usually forget things at home. If I didn’t have a cell phone it would have been hard for me to make contact with someone at home.
