Plaster Fun Time has nine different locations, which makes it very convenient for traveling especially with children. However, I went to the location in Waltham in mid-afternoon on a Thursday. Their hours are Monday-Friday 11:00am-7:00pm, Saturday 10:00am-7:00pm and Sunday noon until 6:00pm. In this particular location, the building was within a small complex with other stores on either side. The entrance was aligned with the parking lot surface, allowing it to be handicap accessible.
Inside there is an open center isle that leads to the front counter. On both sides are two large child size picnic-like tables with bench seating. The ends of the tables have space for handicap accessibility. However, I believe they could improve the handicap accessibility when it can be hard to maneuver through big crowds. Along the walls are the different shelving’s for the figurines which still leaves a walk way between the tables and shelves. The display of figurines gives the children a good visual for options they can chose from. For an art program the atmosphere was very cleansing. After a child finished at the table, a staff member would quickly clean up the area. Every so often a staff member came around to do a clean sweep of the entire room. For example, if there were too many brushes left in the sink. This contributed to the process of some painters move a lot more efficient without having to wait for more brushes. Sink are accessible at child’s level, assisted by a stool if necessary. Behind the counter is where they keep the area secluded from children when it comes time to shine, glitter and/or shellac their figurine. That is a huge impact, especially where they have little children, it is very important to keep them from anything dangerous. The building also had two exits for emergency escape purposes.
In the Plaster Fun Time brochure, it stated that their motto was; “Creativity is important for all ages and should be...
