Below is an essay on "Facebook" from Anti Essays, your source for research papers, essays, and term paper examples.

In this essay I will evaluate the many advantages but also disadvantages for social networking sites. I will be looking and comparing which aspects of the sites are the most effective.   I will be looking at the most popular networking site Facebook. I will analyse weather children should be aloud on all of these sites and if they can in fact take over your life. I will also look into and analyse the privacy safety and potential threats of Facebook.

First of all I will look at the many advantages of these social networking sights. I will begin looking at the privacy settings on Facebook. On Facebook you Don’t just have your friends who can see everything on your page and everyone else can’t see anything, in fact you can pretty much change around everything, you can controle which of your friends can view your photos, info, wall posts and status’, so you can have your page as private or as not private as you like. These counts for people who also aren’t your friend you have the option that if they click on your profile they can see nothing, everything or just some of your page. Facebook divides its privacy groups in to three ‘Friends’ ‘Friends of friends’ and ‘everybody’ So Facebook claims that users have a lot of control over the information they share, whilst this is completely true, because there are so many privacy settings on Facebook it is understandable when people don’t know what they have privatised and what they have left open for others to view. A report by the New York Times revealed that Face book’s privacy policy has 50 different settings and 170 options, the paper also found that the policy is longer than the US Constitution with 5,830 words. However on May 13th many of Facebook users found out that European commission had sent a letter to Facebook saying it privacy is unacceptable because it had made more of its user’s information public with out any permission at all.
