We are required to go to school by law because it is meant to prepare us for our future lives, whether it be for our jobs, college or even just our every day lives.   But in all honesty, how much of the information learned in school can be put to use outside of school?   The problem with how we are taught in school is that we are given a lot of information that we will never have any need for and are required to take some courses we would more than likely not take otherwise.   And some people are able to graduate from high school but still lack the basic skills that are needed for everyday life.   The education system in America does not properly prepare students for their futures.
One major problem with how we are taught is that we are fed masses of information that we will in all honesty never need.   For example, math class.   Now this is obviously a needed class as everyone needs to be able to do basic math as it is a much needed skill for daily life.   The problem with the courses we are required to take currently in high school is that they make students take math courses that delve quite a bit past basic math.   The problem is that these courses start going into things like algebra and trigonometry.   I am not saying that these subjects should not be touched on in the classroom as some base knowledge of these can be helpful as well.   However I think it has gone to far when you get to the point where it seems you are solving English problems because of all the letters as opposed to numbers.   To be more specific I think the math course that really should not be required is Math B.   On FarmingDaleSchools.org I found the Math B curriculum for their schools.   Some topics include: real numbers, natural numbers, polynomials, rational expressions, imaginary numbers, functions, arcs, radians, logs, identities, proofs, and the list keeps going (“Math B Curriculum”).   As I looked at this list I recalled many of the topics but I honestly do not remember anything about most of...
