You should have been there, one of the most exciting games I’ve ever played in. The Warriors went on the road to play the Cortland Purple Tigers that scored 70 points in their win against Fulton in week one. The Warriors weren’t messing around either scoring 41-29 against the always good Indian River team in week one. The Warriors came off that bus with their dress shirts and ties, walking with their Whitesboro Swagger into the locker room. Running onto that field was electrifying players yelling, fans standing up, everyone knew it was going to be a great game. Our captains Steve Almond, Tanner Metoyer and Brian Flanagan went to midfield for the cointoss. We won the toss. Whitesboro received the ball, we came out of the gates like a gunshot, scoring on our first drive on an Almond 45 yard touchdown run. The Warriors weren’t done, they kept swinging putting up 19 points at the end of the first quarter. The Warrior defense was on fire in the first quarter not letting up a single point. The second quarter Whitesboro was shut down a little not scoring a point and letting Cortland get their first touchdown making the score 19-6 at the end of the half. The coaches gave us their talks and told us we were better than that. As half time ran down we were getting pumped up for the second half. The third quarter started and it was a dog fight. Cortland scored two touchdowns to their wide receiver to make the game a 20-19 game with 8 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. Whitesboro came right back driving down the field scoring on a 69 yard run by Steve Almond to put us up 27-20. Yet again the Cortland wide receiver outran the defensive backs for the Warriors for an 87 yard touchdown catch. Cortland wanted the lead so they went for two and got it making the score 28-27 Cortland. Whitesboro once again drove down the field and scored on a 45 yard run by Adam Eberley.
