The following paper analyzes the trends of the human population over the years after the industrial revolution.   By analyzing this information, patterns can be seen of increasing pollution rates as well as possible reasons to why people have not yet developed cooperative resolutions or enforced effective ways to replenish the earth’s ever depleting environment.   The research may also touch on the economic sector showing that we are placing the most attention in the least effective areas.   There may be slight bias in the message that this report is trying to portray, however only with good intent.
The earth’s climate over time has relatively stayed the same temperature, only changing with events such as ice ages or cyclical weather patterns that repeat over time.   Normally and historically, natural occurrences are the only things that have affected the earth’s climate, events such as volcanic eruptions and slight changes in the earths orbit.
For over the past 200 years, the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, and deforestation has caused the concentrations of heat-trapping "greenhouse gases" to increase significantly in our atmosphere. These gases prevent heat from escaping into space, somewhat like the glass panels of a greenhouse. Large concentrations of these gases build up and are trapped in our atmosphere causing heat.   The Earth's temperature is persistently climbing above past levels. According to NOAA and NASA data, the Earth's average surface temperature has increased by about 1.2 to 1.4ºF in the last 100 years. Eleven of the last twelve years rank among the 12 warmest years on record (since 1850), with the warmest two years being 1998 and 2005. Most of the warming in recent decades is very likely the result of human activities. Other aspects of the climate are also changing such as rainfall patterns, snow and ice cover, and sea level.
