Golden Rule Treating others with respect is vital for a better society. The famous golden rule, treat others the way you would want to be treated, is important to follow each day. The Golden Rule goes back to Biblical times,"…do unto others what you would have them do unto you…" (Matthew 7:12). The more society pursues this principle, the happier others will feel. Following the golden rule each day affects my life positively because I gain respect from others. Since I was young, treating others the way I would want to be treated has been a principle that is extremely important to me. If I never followed the golden rule I would not have made close friendships or been respected by others. I always make sure peoples' feelings are never hurt because I know I would like to have someone do the same for me. Following the golden rule makes me feel better about myself. Giving respect, listening to what individuals have to say, not interrupting, giving love, sharing with others, treating others fairly, being honest, and following through with promises are the morals of the golden rule and my life. Each day, I try to remember the golden rule by putting myself in others shoes because I don’t want to judge others too quickly without understanding how they live their lives.
