I. Introduction
The province of Quebec has been known for its special characteristics as a francophone population with a very nationalistic feeling of its own. These have produced during the late XXth century a series of political, economical and social developments that have had a large impact both within Canada and in the rest of the world. The evolution of the separatist movement in Quebec is a very interesting phenomenon that seen through a macro perspective, pictures how a consolidated modern democracy manages to negotiate a secessionist movement inside their own territory. From a specific domestic view, it can be seen as a readjustment of the multicultural policy and also of the debate among the decentralization of power of the Canadian federation.
We will be exposing our theme from the approach of our main thesis statement proposing that the secession of Quebec from Canada will be very difficult to achieve since it compromises the Canadian Federal system and the success of Canada as a country.
