Influence of movies in Pakistan
As this decade has progressed, people of Pakistan have started watching movies on a larger/bigger scale, both at home and at cinemas. Movies have a diverse classification, and we’ll be discussing the major and common effects of the influence of these movies, regardless of these classifications. So basically, our presentation is about the effects of movies as a general on our youth. There are many different and opposing views as far as movies in Pakistan are concerned. We will be discussing a few of these points during the course of this presentation.
The point that I’ll be discussing is the ‘brainwashing’ of our youth by these movies. By Brainwashing I mean the mimicking by our youth of these movies e.g. sultan rahi era. After the embodiment of this character, the crime rate actually increased as people specifically the young generation saw sultan rahi taking the law into his own hands and watching him by knocking off a few policemen. Tell me what kind of message does this kind of character give to the people? That any person is above the law or that the law can be broken on one’s own whim? One more important point is the spread of gangster and gun trend in Pakistan. Our youth is more aware of this kind of violence and actually look forward to it and are thrilled by it and experience it as a drug.
We Pakistanis usually tend to overdo the things and forget what our boundaries are. That’s what I believe because I myself overdo stuff. Watching movies is good for a time pass however we forget our other responsibilities and maintain our focus on watching movies and that actual ‘time pass’ turns out to be a menace. The only thing which is being carried out from generation to generation is our culture. Because of movies we have taken in a lot of things into our culture that has quiet heavily affected the beauty of our eastern culture.
