Amoung the chains of large discount stores,   there is no larger corporation as the well known Walmart.   Walmart is the largest grocery, apparel corporation and general merchandise retailer in the world all a result of their incredibly low prices on products.   Beginning in 1998, Walmart also cornered the toy market with their sales accounting for one-fourth of all U.S. toy sales.   Again, this holiday season, Walmart will not be undersold when it comes to the toy market.   Walmart has ushered in the holidays with their new tactic, the $10.00 toy list.   Walmart made it clear that their toy sales would not suffer during this economic downfall by announcing well known toys, such as the barbie doll and hot wheels car sets for only $10.00.   Walmart's low pricing on popular toys has fueled a competitive battle amoung the various toy manufacturers.   Following Walmart's price cuts, Target and KB Toys Inc. sent walmart the message :bring it on".   Not to be undersold, KB toys cut their prices to $10.00 or less for over 200 toys.   With Walmart's prices already 25-40% below that of Toys "R" Us and Amazon.com, Target announced that they would begin matching their competitors' prices on the toys on Walmart's $10.00 list.   Although Amazon.com matches Walmart's prices, they are having a more dificult time competing with Walmart because of shipping   and handling charges.   Walmart's other big competitor, Toys R Us, however, is not following Walmart's lead.
    Toys R Us cheif executive officer, Gerqald Storch, Maintains that parents will buy toys no matter the economy.   Toys R Us is not about to compete in the price wars which they would probably lose.   Toys R Us strategy for this season is to draw consumers by offering a larger variety of toys and the holiday's most trendy toys.   Some toy retailers, such as KB Toys Inc., compete with Walmart by offering $10.00 toys, but these are usually older, less popular toys.   Toys R Us believes that value is not about just offering toys at...
