We all make choices in our lives. Some good, some bad. But every path we take, road we walk, journey we travel comes down to decisions, often times made in a split second. Now I can’t remember every decision I’ve had to make in my life, that would be impossible, but I do remember the big things. Where I decided to go to college, my first job, where I chose to live, heck I can even remember what I wore to prom. All of them choices, decisions. All of them memorable for different reasons.   Each one was a stepping stone forming a path which would lead me to who I am today. Had I chosen differently my life might have turned out differently, and quite frankly I wouldn’t want my life to be any different. True on a good day the insanity is only something someone embroiled within can love, but I do love it. It’s a wonderful imperfect. But this fantastic imperfect dream would not be a reality if I hadn’t made all of those decisions.
Somehow though I can’t help feeling that everything I’ve become hinges on what turned out to be the biggest decision of my life. Yea at the time I thought it was a pretty easy decision. When the summer before you’re leaving to go off to college and your mom tells you that you have to go stay with your grandparents for that summer or work two jobs, the choice seems simple: you work the two jobs.   Yeah sure it’s going to be a lot of work, but it also could be the last chance you ever get to be with your friends. So i said no. But my mother, in her infinite wisdom, decided she wanted the summer alone as a graduation gift to herself. So I packed up my bags and spent the summer of 2011 in Oakwood, Massachusetts, a small town on the Atlantic Ocean just south of New Hampshire.
Naturally, I was pissed. My mother had just kicked me out of West Palm Beach, Florida so she could party it up. I was leaving my friends, hometown, and all the naive tourist chicks who think a surfer is really hot. How was I supposed to get laid in Oakwood, Massachusetts?...
