Textbooks Plus is a new business proposal that would sell textbooks and supplemental learning materials along with school specific apparel, merchandise and other gifts. It would be established to provide service to the major colleges and universities located within the Colorado Springs area.
The target market will be composed of two primary demographics: the 18-24 year old undergraduates and the 25 and up graduates. The primary competition will come from two major sources. First, local college and university bookstores will provide direct competition for local sales. The other major competitor will be internet sites including Amazon and Half.com
The initial objective of Textbooks Plus will involve penetration pricing in order to capture and steadily increase market share. Long terms goals will include gradual increase to sales and revenues and operate in a profitable fashion. In order to achieve the stated goals, Textbooks Plus will focus heavily on offering lower textbook prices and a large variety of supplemental learning materials in order to be viewed by the customer base as a convenient and outstanding value.
