Americans are guilty of showing favoritism over who they allow in their Country. Due to many Acts put into effect in the United States, it is hard for them to be so blatant with what is happening. It is still very apparent that favoritism and discrimination is taking place in a semi legal way. Certain Acts were created to stop America from being so biased about who they let in their Country. With these Acts in place, there seems to be ways around America’s fear of allowing others from other Countries into the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Some of the most apparent ways that can still be seen to prove that discrimination of immigrants still exists, in spite of the many Acts that have been created to prevent this type of discrimination, are seen through the filing fees of important documents for legal status for being in America.
Why would anyone from another Country fight to come to America in the first place? Aren’t there freedoms in other Countries that would allow for personal growth as well as personal financial stability? Unfortunately, there isn’t. America is one of the only countries that have freedom on a level that an individual can choose and make decisions based upon their wants and desires. In America, you can choose how many children you want to have, what religion you want to embrace, and even choose your own marriage partner. A lot of Countries don’t have the freedom of choice, which makes being an American citizen seem like the greatest place to live. It is more appealing to immigrants to come to America, gain citizenship status, and start bringing other family members over here to the Land of Opportunity. Most immigrants still say that they would rather come to America, go thru the grueling process of discrimination and costly fees just to make it possible to eventually bring their whole family over here to make a better life for themselves.
