When one usually steps into a car one takes safety for granted.   Most people don’t even think twice about jumping into a car to go from one place to another. Being in a car, whether driving or riding is a daily routine for most everyone...   Everyone thinks that nothing can happen to them, that they are invincible   When it comes right down to it, no one is invincible.   So why am I so nervous every time I get into a car, whether I am driving or riding as a passenger?   I will tell you that I learned the hard way when I had my first car accident.
November 6, 2009 was a day I will never forget, a day that changed my life forever.   It was a cold, breezy morning when me and my friend, Carolyanne left Southside High School and were on our way to get something to eat before we had to be at the University at 1:00 p.m.  
I had just called my Mom to tell her we were going to eat and then go to college.   I was driving in the East bound lane on Rogers Avenue in front of St. Edward’s Mercy Center when it happened so fast.   I remember seeing a blue car in front of me and a red car beside me.   The lady driving the red car swerved in front of me and had to slam on her brakes to keep from running into the back of the blue car.   Before I knew what was happening, the lady in front of me slammed on her brakes, CRASH, the next thing I know I open my eyes to see that my airbags have been deployed.   I didn't know what to do, I just felt like crying but I stayed strong and just sat there. I was so scared sitting there.   I tried to open my door to see if I could get out and make sure that Carolyanne and the lady in front of me was ok.   I couldn't get my door open because the crash had caused the front driver door to bend and so I was unable to step out. I was forced to walk out through the passenger door and step out.   The police officer asked for my driver’s license and my insurance information.
