Definitions of a community
We can look at the definition of a community from the traditional and alternative (non-traditional ) perspective.
Traditional communities encompass places like cities, towns, and villages.   They have geographical boundaries.   These communities are characterized by residences, shared living space, and some array of businesses that serve the needs of those who lived there.
Non-traditional communities are nonplace or non geographic communities.   Members of these communities share common interests and may carry out some of the same functions.   For example, a social work community may provide a sense of belonging, support and validation of one’s work, values, and ideas.
