Writing assignment 2, Middle Eastern and European Religions.

For my second religious field observance I had the choice of going to either a Jewish temple or an Islamic mosque. Luckily my parents have a friend that was kind enough to give me a tour of their temple, Congregation of b'nai jehudah, the address of the temple is at The Temple, Congregation B'nai Jehudah   12320 Nall Avenue. This temple is a reform sect of Judaism, funny after asking what type of temple it was my friend told me that I should only visit the reform forms of Judaism, because they said that If I were to go and visit a Orthodox sect of Judaism, I would be frightened and shocked by their appearance and rules, their words not mine. So I drove to the temple, it is heavily secluded, if I was not looking for it I would have a real problem spotting it, even maybe never finding it at all, covered visually by a hill the only part of the temple viewable from the road is the road in, which is covered by trees. Quite a different from the aspect of praying in the public to show your devotion, this temple takes a more modern/private property value in keeping the prying eyes away. The temple itself is on the left side of the building, the layout of the building is symmetrical, and the build is very nice first thoughts are it implies balance in life and spirit. Leading into the main building there is a very nice and intricate stairway, inside the building it is very quaint, to me it is highly unusual seeing that I have only visited a church once in my life and it was for my cousin’s baptism, so this experience is very odd to me. I know I am supposed to have some kind of reverence for this spiritual place, however all I can think about is the historical value or the purpose or meaning for why they do what they do or why something’s are set the way they are.
