Remembering the Coop
Alice Cooper, probably the greatest hard rocker of this century. He and his band has been the influence of many other greatly known music artists such as Rob Zombie, Marylyn Manson, Twisted Sister, Ozzy Osbourne and Kiss.
He grew up under the name of Vincent Furnier until he official changed his name to his stage name sometime in the late 1960s. His most favorite band of all time is The Yardbirds.
What made his band so appealing was inventing a more violent sense on rock music which he called shock rock. He did this by using his concerts as a stage show that included devices of death such as a guillotine, the gallows, or electric chair. He would also use fake blood, boa constrictors and baby dolls. Each of his concerts goes through a certain process: sin, death, then resurrection. Band members have come and gone, but Alice was able to handle the challenges through time to still be the greatest rock star of all time and famed Americana.
My experience with the rock group was when they had their Dirty Diamonds tour in Albany, NY during the New York State Fair. It was quite an experience, standing, cheering, and singing songs from the 3rd row and center of the stage. At this concert, I caught a wooden cane that he threw out into the crowd. He usually would do this sometimes. His most famous one was a story that he told over and over again. He was having a concert in Toranto and someone threw a live chicken onto the stage. So, thinking that chickens could fly, the rock star grabbed the chicken and threw it off the stage. Instead it fell into the crowd and was ripped into pieces in the 3rd row.
Alice’s daughter was a known stage actress for the group. At this concert she dressed as multiple characters throughout the concert. She even played the role of the executioner on her own father. Another character she played at this concert was a parody of Paris Hilton. The result of Hilton was having her throat ripped out by her small dog...
