Sex And The City:
Carrie Bradshow vs. Samantha Jones
The American comedy show called Sex And The City has been a smash hit ever since it was first aired on HBO in 1998. Since then it has amassed 94 episodes and two movies. Set in New York City, the show focuses on four white American women in their mid-thirties whom are all well educated and successful. The show explores the unique world of Manhattan's dating scene through the experiences these four women have. The two main characters are Carrie Bradshow and her best friend, Samantha Jones. Despite being friends for 13 years and sharing many similarities were these characters really that alike?
To begin with, Carrie Bradshow and Samantha Jones are both very
successful which has made them also pretty independent. Carrie works in
her apartment writing a newspaper column focusing on the different
aspects of her relationships. In later seasons, her essays are collected as
a book and she begins taking assignments from Vogue and New York
Magazine. She lives by herself in an apartment in an Upper East Side
brownstone. Likewise, Samantha is also a successful independent
businesswoman, who owns her own Public Relations company. She used
to live on the Upper East Side, but ends up moving by herself to an
apartment in the Meatpacking District. Due to their successful careers,
they both share a very expensive taste in fashionable clothes and shoes
of well known designers and enjoy the glamorous way of life that
Manhattan has to offer. They live a lifestyle that most men, as well as
women, would love to have.
Additionally, they’re both in their mid-thirties living the single life in
New York City and exploring the dating scene. They both love to party, frequently going to bars and events looking for fun with a common goal of finding a guy to go home with at the end...
