Tobacco companies should formulate special flavors and packaging for adolescents and females. Because of the lower cigarette sales volume that resulted from the public's heightened awareness of the unhealthy habit of smoking, the cigarette manufacturers should try to retain the original customer base and attract new customers by various means. These include developing new tobacco products, changing the flavor, lowering the nicotine content, improving the function of the filter, and revamping production technique.
To accommodate the taste of the younger generation fruit-flavored tobacco should be produced. Young people's curiosity could lead them to try out the fruit-flavored or flower-fragranced tobacco. These are tricks that the tobacco industry should use to attract the younger generation to start smoking. This will exploit the young people's tendency to gravitate toward whatever is trendy and popular. This will lead the young people to believe that the fruit-flavored tobacco is not as harmful as the regular cigarette.
Research and Development
In response to the pressure from anti-tobacco groups, the tobacco industry should try to develop and bring to market modified tobacco products that are claimed to be healthier. The company should claim that the process of tobacco drying has been improved, which would reduce the amount of carcinogen in the smoke.
