“The Weaving Contest” (the story of Arachne and Athena)

Thus, Athena grew more furious then ever, and she used her immense power to harm her harshly. Arachne was disgraced and would live, but would hang forever and do her weaving in the air. She became the first spider on earth to weave the first magnificent web.

A weaving contest between Arachne and Athena occurred. Arachne won the contest with a beautiful tapestry of the greatest gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus, and the adventures they’ve experienced. (pg.20)

Athena disguised herself as an elderly woman and suggested her to not compare her skills with the great goddess Athena. Arachne laughed at the foolish woman about the unbecoming character of vanity. (pg. 20)

Athena, the goddess of weaving and handicrafts, was in a terrible rage about Arachne’s conceit of being a better weaver than the goddess. (pg.19)
