Below is an essay on "Television" from Anti Essays, your source for research papers, essays, and term paper examples.

Television is a two blade knife, especially for children. On the one hand, television today has a lot of positive effects and influences on our society and culture. Television gives children helpful information, various forms of education and entertainment. Our children can learn the alphabets, colors, and numbers on television. They can get information on wildlife and expand their knowledge with quiz contests and other games on TV. Also, with television, they can keep a track of the latest happenings and the current events. Furthermore, the various forms of cartoons and kids programs are as an excellent form of entertainment for kids. They can learn so many good things from the cartoon movies which help them to develop their imagination abilities and open their minds. On the other hand, though television is an important source of entertainment for each household, it has a severely negative impact on the minds of the watchers, particularly for children. Nowadays, there are a lot of children who just sit on the couch, eat snacks, and watch television for long hours. Therefore, so many of them have overweight problems. In addition, the scientists said that children learn bad habits much faster than the good ones on television. If a child sees people smoke and drink on screen, he might imitate and end up the same habits in the future. Besides, horror scenes, violent acts, murder, bloodshed, and physical abuse in many movies that are shown on television impact the thoughts and emotions of the spectators, especially children and youngsters. Anyway, if the adults know how to manage and take care of their children, such as, set viewing limits, refuse to provide own TV to children, or encourage watching favorite shows, I think TV will become a good friend for our children.
