“Atticus vs. Bob Ewell”
Atticus Finch and Bob Ewell throughout the novel in “To Kill a Mocking Bird” are completely different characters. Although both Atticus and Bob share the characteristic of fatherhood, they differ with respect to have strong beliefs regarding racism and position in treating their children. First of all, they are both single parents successfully raising their children. “It’s not okay to hate anybody.”, Atticus says (pg. 246). This quote means show that he is an extremely caring fatherhood and always cares about his children. For example, Atticus taught her daughter Scout Finch that this scene shows despite one's upbringing, it is up to the individual to follow the courage of his or her own convictions and make his or her own decisions with respect to what is right and wrong. She will indeed follow her father in leading a life free of hatred because he was successfully raised her in right way. As comparing to Bob, he was actually successfully raised his children but was not in right way. The similar between them is the characteristic of fatherhood.
In addition, they differ with respect to have strong beliefs regarding racism. For example, Atticus do not prejudices on people while Bob does. “You nigger lover”, Bob Ewell says. He is an individual to follow the courage of his own convictions and made a decision with unrespect what supposed to be wrong. As comparing to Atticus, he has a lot of respect for children and to be brought up in a good world where there is no racism. One of examples in this novel, Bob made a wrong decision by accused Tom Robinson and blamed him for raped his old daughter, Mayella which was not true. He prejudiced on him because he is a black. They differ with respect to have strong beliefs regarding racism.
