Thomas Tsai is the only child of his family. His parents move to America when he was seven years old and he did not learn much about Chinese Culture. He really want to learn more Chinese Culture because he feel know more about American Culture and doesn’t know much about his own culture. He work at his parent’s book store 10 – 15 hours per week and he help at the cash register, making change to customers. He is planning to go to Coast Community College for two years and then transfer to Coast State University. He is taking 5 classes this semester, study skills, Chinese Immigration to California, Introduction to Reading and Writing, Introduction to Accounting, Intermediate Math. One problem about Thomas, he doesn’t have enough time, also have a difficult schedule and he need to drop one class because he cannot handle is schedule and time. I will help Thomas to find out which class is better to drop.
As a Thomas’s counselor I strongly recommend to keep Study Skill class, because it’s a very important class and he can learn new skills and can apply to his other classes. This class is not required and necessary and he can take it anytime. If Thomas takes this class, he will have to drop another class. Or will lose some time instead of taking some class for his major. However Thomas is a new student in college, and this class will help him a lot. He have a hard time organizing his time and work, so he is learning and finding out how to organize his time. He will make educational plans for college. That is an excellent help for new students. He is also practicing his note taking in this class; also this will help him improve his English. Sometimes Thomas have to turn in his note to the teacher to see how his doing. Finally he learning some skills and he is doing good. This class is helping Thomas a lot, and he can apply those skills to his other classes to get better and have a good grades.
I also recommend Thomas to keep Chinese...
