Miss Schwartz represents people that desperately want something. Miss Schwartz was a people pleaser. The thirty two year old woman experienced the ultimate power of gratification and the author did an excellent job showing the negative action turning into an unpleasant consequence.
  Ms Schwartz has waited fifteen years to marry her love one. Sam Hilton. She waited Sam to get a good job, but she did not rush him or pressure him to hurry up. She was afraid that Sam will leave her if she wasn’t perfect. All she wanted to do was to impress Sam. She wanted a fancy dress to make it a perfect wedding dress, but she only had twenty five dollars. She had no idea that dresses were that expensive. The clerk noticed that and sarcastically talked to her. (Paragraph 10) “The salesgirl said sarcastically.” She did not care because all she has in mind is to please others. She needs to learn to get respect from others.
  To Miss Schwartz the wedding dress represented the connection with Sam. She had to get the perfect dress for her “perfect” love. When she stole the dress she did it without thinking. The dress was to be hers like Sam had to be hers as well. When she went to buy the dress, the first dress wasn’t good enough for Sam. Sam was better than that twenty five dollar dress. Ms. Schwartz could not give back the dress, because if she did she was afraid that Sam would be gone as well. Even when the man took her to the station or when she went to court she would not take off the wedding dress like she would never leave Sam. Because she stole the dress her and Sam had to get married quietly. Dress perfectly represented this connection.             ( paragraph 11 ) “ She liked the feeling it left on her fingers .” Sam was awesome to Miss Schwartz’s eyes, but after this incident the relationship became different.
