Year after year American truck companies such as Chevy, Ford, and Dodge are coming out new and innovative ways to make their trucks better. The trucks they’re putting out are starting to drive more like cars giving the driver a more and more of a comfortable ride. These heavy duty trucks are made for the purpose of tough heavy work and it’s amazing how comfortable the trucks are even when they are out getting real dirty getting a job done.
Popular Mechanics, a technology and gadget magazine, conducted a test to see what heavy duty truck is best for this years model between Ford, GMC, and Dodge. The test consisted of having each truck towing a 9000 lb load over rough roads, up and down steep hills and through the city of L.A. The goal of the test was to find out which of these trucks provides the best combination of in-the-field heavy-hauling performance, overall comfort for the daily grind and fuel efficiency and the winner was the GMC Sierra 3500HD. Everyone one has their own opinion on what truck they like better but based on what Popular Mechanics was looking for, the GMC meet each standard with the best rating.
After trying each truck, the magazine said that the GMC was the most smooth and carlike truck out of the three. They liked how easy it took corners and went over bumps or pot holes as well as the control and comfort while towing the 9000 lb load. It also had the best fuel economy for both highway and city driving which really caught the eyes of the testers. Popular Mechanic really like how carlike this truck was compared to the other two. It has very smooth transmission shifts as well as the best powertrain truck of the bunch having the most powerful engine. That was one of the key highlights with this truck, the fact that it has the biggest engine and still got the best fuel economy.
