“Finally sixteen and gotta my license.” The everyday wish of a sixteen year old is to get there license. But all over the GTA young drivers are getting hurt and becoming a huge hazards to our streets. Who is to blame for this kind of brutality? The police or the government? Every day there is a huge line of teens awaiting there licenses and every day one of them get critically injured due to carelessness. Either they are speeding or they are racing, why has no one put a stop to this? Mark Spencer 23 years old with a wife and a child are starting at there loved one hoping he lives another 2 days after his brutal car crash. Mark Spencer was driving home from work when a 17 year old boy was racing down the hwy.401 and lost control of his vehicle and slammed into Marks car and putting him into a very severe comma. Witness Carly Robins says: “I saw the whole thing it was something you’d see in a movie. I was shock when I saw blood and car parts flying all over the place. The boys in the car flew passed me going at least 160 and completely stopped into another car”. Mark Spencer was air lifted to Credit valley Hospital in Mississauga where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. After 8 hours of intense surgery doctors have said if he survives 48 hours he will survive but if he cannot fight this he will die. Police Constable Harry Dick says “we are investigating this matter very seriously and have not concluded if alcohol has played a role but it is something we are looking into very deeply. We have to put a stop to thing immediately we need the help of our community to call in for reckless drivers to save innocent people like Mark from getting hurt”. Police efforts say they will increase police on our streets and encourage people to call in peel police at 905-453-3311 or crime stoppers at 1800-222-TIPS if they have any information of reckless or careless drivers.
